Attached are some pictures from last spring all demonstrating the importance of consistent planting depth on corn. With the first two picture you can see the negatives affects from shallowing up planting depth. In this case I saw seed depth range from .5-2.5 inches causing uneven imbibition of moisture. On the last picture with the white background you can see a more consistent planting depth that ranged from 2.25-2.5 inches in depth. What does everyone believe is the appropriate depth for planting your corn? How many bushels are you leaving out there by simply not having an appropriate seed depth?
